According to research conducted by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the need for finance professionals is on the rise. With a growth rate of 16%, the field is expected to create more than 104,000 new financial manager positions by 20281. Financial Manager:

In this position, you would play a major role in setting financial goals for a company, along with developing plans of action to achieve them. You would evaluate investment opportunities and make important financial decisions to improve the business’ overall success1.

Financial Analyst:

As a professional in this position, you would work to improve the financial health of both individuals and businesses by determining their most beneficial investment opportunities. Curriculum: Strongly Focused on Financial Leadership

As you complete the certificate in finance, you’ll learn real-world skills from a faculty of industry experts. You’ll complete five finance courses, including three that can be chosen from a selection of courses that offer career-focused topics. Explore managerial accounting and finance, international finance, investment analysis and more as you prepare for the next step in your career.

Course Spotlight: MBA 662 Advanced Managerial Finance

This course provides an in-depth study of financial theory, analysis and application in selected areas. Topics include advanced financial analysis, economic value added, estimation of free cash flows, corporate valuation using free cash flows, risk and return, project-specific cost of capital, capital budgeting applications, capital structure theory and policy, dividend policy, share repurchases, and mergers and acquisitions. Students will apply theoretical concepts learned in course lectures to real-world case analyses.

Course Spotlight: MBA 665 Futures and Options

This course delivers professional knowledge on futures and options through expert instruction on topics that are essential to financial derivatives. As a student, you’ll study the Black-Scholes-Merton option pricing model, forwards and futures markets, credit derivatives, hedging strategies and more.

Each graduate business certificate can be completed in one year.

To apply for admission, you’ll need the following:

  • Completed application
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended
  • Admission essay (contact a program manager for more details)
  • Resume outlining academic and professional background and recognition, honors, and awards
  • Two recommendation letters from professional references
  • Three years of professional work experience (preferred)

The Admissions Committee may request GMAT/GRE score if more information is needed to make an admission decision. Submitting a strong GMAT/GRE score could strengthen your file if you are concerned about other areas of your application.

The Finance Certificate provides the qualifying skills for roles such as financial manager, financial analyst, asset manager and more.

The Leadership & Change Certificate provides the qualifying skills for roles such as top executive, human resources manager, director and more.
